"The perfect harmony of silence is personified in the artworks of Alexander Demidov. It is the source of his coloristically harmonious, philosophically balanced, and spiritually uplifting paintings. The surroundings and his early recollections, which are nourished by the coziness of his parents' house, serve as inspiration for his artwork."
Silence is not emptiness or muteness. It is a state of retreat, a detachment from the noise of everyday information that enables you to concentrate on something very, very important. Silence is a state that is expressed by your own melody, ideas, and emotions.
The perfect harmony of silence is personified in the artworks of Alexander Demidov. It is the source of his coloristically harmonious, philosophically balanced, and spiritually uplifting paintings. The surroundings and his early recollections, which are nourished by the coziness of his parents' house, serve as inspiration for his artwork.
The artist was born in Minsk in 1965 and to this day lives and works in his homeland, only occasionally traveling to other countries to participate in large-scale art exhibitions.
Alexander Demidov started developing his creative talents at a children's art school before earning degrees from the Belarusian State Academy of Arts (1995) and the Minsk State Art College named after A. K. Glebov (1984). The artist started doing exhibitions in 1992, and in 1994, he had his first solo show. Since 1996, he has been a member of the Belarusian Union of Artists.
Alexander Demidov developed an individual author's style with a distinct figurative and stylistic framework while searching for his own pictorial language. This gave his works a distinctive and instantly identifiable quality.
The color scheme of Alexander Demidov's canvases changed during the creative process from cool blue-gray to warm orange ocher, and new plots and characters were added. However, the primary substantive element—the vivid emotional content—remains remarkably expressive and appealing.
For more than three decades, the artist has consistently adhered to his theme range, which might be expressed as "This is my home + fauna and flora." This is merely an artistic representation of a formula for happiness that combines spiritual principles, empathy for one another, and love for all living creatures.
Alexander Demidov has had numerous international exhibitions of his artworks in Lithuania, Russia, Holland, France, England, Belgium, Germany, and the United States. His paintings are in the collections of the Belarusian National Arts Museum, the National Center for Contemporary Arts, Raiffeisen Bank, Priorbank (Belarus), funds of art galleries in Belarus and Lithuania, as well as in private collections in Germany, France, Great Britain, Holland, Belgium, Austria, Lithuania, Cyprus, and the USA.
