Christmas Dreams

The nature of the artist’s creativity lies in the fact that many plots and characters of future paintings are born in a dream. Fairy-tale images are often embodied in the style of primitivism, which allows the artist to play in childhood, remember and reproduce the distant and beloved past. The viewer also sees in these memories his own equally beloved childhood, and this moment evokes sincere tenderness. These are the kind of paintings of the Ivanov dynasty of artists - Grigory, Natalya, and their daughter Galina.

The Semiletov dynasty of artists - Boris, Larisa, their son Ivan, and daughter-in-law Anna - is also represented in this exhibition, their paintings being mostly in the style of symbolism with real and at the same time mysterious subjects. A clearer understanding of their paintings requires a gradual immersion in the subject.

Belarusian art today has quite a few creative dynasties, and among them there are proponents of the successor culture.

Conversely, there are dynasties where the next generation doesn't want to repeat the style and manner of its predecessor and is looking for its own individual style in art. Thus, the dynasty of artists Sumarev, the eldest of whom, Vasily, celebrated his 85th birthday this year; and two daughters, Daria and Katherine, differ from one another in painting styles. The father is a traditional classical realist, Daria went into generalization and impressionism, and Katherine is a proponent of expressionism.

The interior exhibition “islands” with antiques organically contain the paintings of Marina and Mikhail Konovalov, famous artists and teachers living in Nesvizh. Besides, there are also paintings of Katherine Filyuta, a master of still lifes of antique paraphernalia. She is related to the artistic dynasty of Oleg Lutsevich, an artist and legendary professor at Minsk State Art College in the 60s - 70s.
