Young and creatively active artists Anna and
Ivan represent the third generation of a renowned Belarusian fine arts dynasty, founded by Alexander Semiletov, one of the outstanding painters of the Soviet era.
Born in Minsk in 1984, Anna studied professionally at the Minsk College of Arts (1991-2002) and at the Belarusian Academy of Arts (2002-2007). She brought her unique viewpoint and nuanced, intuitive sense of her surroundings to the Semiletov family when she married Ivan. She progressively established her own style and unique signature by immersing herself in the family's philosophical beliefs and the artistic accomplishments of past generations.
Additionally, despite the fact that her paintings coexist peacefully in the exhibition with her husband's, echoing their color scheme and naive decorative techniques, they have a lot in common, including fairytale-like narratives, intricate drawings, graceful forms, and denser color accents.
Through her art, Anna Semiletova immerses us in a realm of imagination and fantasy. A plethora of meanings and allusions to universally recognized cultural and historical phenomena are conveyed through the artist's whimsical and unexpected imagery. Nothing in her paintings is what it first appears to be, but if you look closely, you'll see how an indoor cat resembles the ancient Egyptian Sphinx, how a lone figure beneath a night lamp appears to soar into the sky, how an alien spaceship's "beam" catches it, and how a "gingerbread house" from a Brothers Grimm fairy tale appears among recognizable tall buildings.
Since 1997, Anna has taken part in plein air painting sessions, international fine art master programs, Republican art exhibitions, and photographic contests. Over 40 art exhibitions both nationally and internationally are included in her creative repertoire.
