Marina Mara is the stage name of the artist Marina Konovalova, under which she became known among professional masters of fine art and numerous admirers of her talent.
Marina began her life, as well as her creative path, in Soligorsk. She has been drawing since childhood, attended art school and, having finally decided on her choice of profession, went to study at the Vitebsk State University in the art and graphic department. Having received her diploma in1986, she came to Nesvizh, which has since become not only Marina's home, but also an inexhaustible source of creative inspiration and spiritual enrichment, and the theme of The House of Radziwiłł has become key topic in her work forever.
In her quest to improve her professional skills, Marina paid much attention to mastering painting and graphic techniques, and continued her studies and in 2014 received a second higher education, graduating from the Belarusian Academy of Arts in graphic design.
Marina is a multifaceted artist, who has demonstrated her talent in various forms of art – graphics, painting, and decorative and applied arts. And she skillfully combines all of this with her teaching activities. She generously shares her skills with talented children at the Nesvizh Art School and with future designers at the Yakub Kolas State College.
Working in easel graphics, she gives preference to romantic images using the technique of monochrome, thin, ornate lace pencil drawing. In the field of book graphics, Marina is an illustrator. She has designed 15 children's books published in Belarus.
Another serious creative passion of Marina is batik. The complex technique of painting on silk is within her power and represents not only chic items of women's wardrobe, but also exquisite elements of a modern interior. She created her own brand "Maramarina".
In painting, Marina most often uses gouache and pastel, which allow, thanks to color nuances, to create a light, airy environment in lyrical landscapes and delicate floral still lifes.
The author says, "Pastel allows to show the elegance of lines and the softness of color spots and textures, the transparency of the lower layers. It seems that the work was successful if there were no corrections in it, everything in it lives, breathes, and preserves the lightness of the lines"
Marina Mara is an active exhibition artist. She participates in national and international plein airs and art exhibitions in Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Montenegro. She is the curator of the Regional Plein Air of Young Artists named after M. Sevruk.
